After a difficult end to last season, the 1s await eagerly for the chance to right the wrongs and get back to playing the high intensity, fluid hockey that has characterised our playing style over the past couple of years. At the weekend, the team competes in Scottish National League 1, the premier division in the country. Our aim for this season is to compete for European Qualification, through finishing in the top 4 of National League 1. On a Wednesday, the 1st team play in BUCS Prem B, competing against Uni teams as far south as Birmingham and Loughborough, which makes for high level mid-week hockey and fun-filled away days. Having won this league and just missed out in the promotion play-offs in the past two seasons, we firmly believe that we are deserving of being among the UKs elite hockey universities and are ready to prove it on the pitch. Furthermore, the loss of several key players at the end of last season has been balanced by the uptake of numerous and promising fresh faces. Despite being the most performance oriented team in the club, the 1s are a very social and amicable unit, who work hard on and off the pitch. With September fast approaching, the 1s will ensure that this coming season is one to remember.
