Results in 2019/20 competitions:
Scottish National League 1: 3rd
BUCS Men’s Premier League: 3rd
Scottish Cup: Semi-finalists

On Saturdays we compete in the Scottish Premiership League, the top league for hockey in Scotland. Last year, despite the league being cut short, we achieved one of our best league performances in recent years, finishing 3rd overall which is just one spot away from European qualification. In the Scottish Cup we have not been knocked out of the competition before the semi-finals in each of the last 5 years. This has proved that we are one of the top teams in Scotland and, with few senior players leaving the team and a great group of players who recently joined the team, we would expect this to continue into next year.

On Wednesdays we play in the BUCS Men’s Premier league, a tightly contested competition which sees us play some of the top University teams in the country. In previous years, we have come close to promotion into the top league, including last season where we were just 3 points off the top spot. Hopefully, with the addition of some new first years in the team, we can achieve our goal of promotion next year.

As one of the top teams representing the University, being part of the Men’s 1s comes with several benefits such as top class coaching, a specific S&C programme, free physio treatment, and access to the University’s exclusive “performance gym”. While enjoying the advantages of being a performance team, we are all sociable guys and you will find most of the team at every club social. From playing top class hockey to having a great time at the pub on a Wednesday night, the 1s are a great team to be part of.
