In May 2018 Edinburgh University was delighted to welcome the EuroHockey Women’s Club Challenge 1 competition to our very own Peffermill for a fantastic weekend of elite European hockey competition.

The tournament, hosted by a joint bid from Edinburgh University Women’s hockey club and Edinburgh University Sports Union was a huge success with 8 teams descending into Edinburgh from around Europe for a great weekend of sport.

It was the first time that the Women’s Challenge 1 has been held in Scotland and teams and players will benefit from the brand new Polytan playing surface that was recently unveiled at Peffermill which represents a £360,000 investment by the University and is the first phase of a £3.15 million masterplan for outdoor sport at Edinburgh.

It saw huge numbers of volunteers from both the Men’s and Women’s hockey club involved in a glorious weekend of scottish sunshine (yes really), packed crowds and a great atmosphere.

To cap it all off our very own Edinburgh University Women’s Hockey Club winning the tournament alongside Belgian representatives Braxgata Hockey Club.
